Ready-to-go client and server DLLs for IEC 61850/UCA/MMS

Take advantage of the benefits of DLLs (Dynamic Link Library) to connect your real-time data with IEC 61850 compliant networks. We (or the DLLs) care about what you have to communicate -- So you're free to concentrate on the important application stuff! We make it easy for you to get started with the IEC 61850 (UCA, MMS) connectivity. Just "push" your real-time data - e.g. available in a PC VB or C application - into the Server DLL: The rest is managed by the DLL.

Vattenfall (Stockholm, Sweden) and NettedAutomation GmbH have run an IEC 61850 pilot project with a wind power plant. The wind power plant is connected to a control center application with IEC 61850. To install the system in short time, a 61850 server DLL (Dynamic Link Library) has been used in the wind power plant controller.

The wind power plant is modelled, monitored and controlled with the IEC 61850 standard compliant software.

The application (e.g., a Visual Basic application) needs only to put the 'raw' process data values into the DLL and to call the DLL, -- the rest, e.g. limit supervision and the Winsocket communication (TCP/IP), is managed by the server DLL.

The wind power plant has approximately 1000 data points. The total DLL, including the database and the services (Get, Set, Report, Logging; Control, ...) is only 440 kB. In addition to the IEC 61850/UCA communication, also internet technologies like http (values coded in html and XML) can be used to access the same data in the server - already included in the 440 kB.

Server DLLs for arbitrary real time data, be it measurands or status information, can be generated simple and fast with a tool.

DLLs are particularly useful to include real-time data in the IEC 61850/UCA world - without the need for deeper knowledge of the standard.
