Digital data communication for measurement and control - Fieldbus for use in industrial control systems IEC 61158

IEC Central office has published a ballot on the revised and enhanced IEC Fieldbus (IEC 61158).
The ballot ends 2002-01-18.

The new standard comprises the following documents:

Part 1: Introductory guide - 65C/267/CDV
Part 2: Physical layer specification and service definition - 65C/262/CDV
Part 3: Data Link Service definition - 65C/263/CDV
Part 4: Data Link Protocol specification - 65C/264/CDV
Part 5: Application layer service definition - 65C/265/CDV
Part 6: Application layer protocol specification - 65C/266/CDV

The following network protocols are specified in IEC 61158:

Type 1 PhL superset of IEC 61158-2:1993
superset of FOUNDATION. Fieldbus
functional superset of WorldFIP
DLL IEC TS 61158-3, TS 61158-4
superset of FOUNDATION Fieldbus

The number of fieldbusses standardized by this IEC standard has been increased to cover new requirements of vendors and users.
